I was born optimistic, incredibly shy, a people and nature lover. I have been drawn to the mystical side of life for as long as I can remember. Life has been busy though, family and work came first.
Then one day I knew that I was ‘ready’………fingers were snapped, a light was switched on, a candle was lit, a door was opened……I was awake!!!!
And what an amazing ride it has been. It began with a tarot class, fascinating and so much more than expected. Next began energetic healing classes, during which time I slammed through a few more gates, doors, windows. It was an awesome, sometimes mind boggling ride. It was when I stopped ‘trying to figure it all out’ and decided to just experience the ride, that everything truly began to flow and happen.
During this time I also read “Return of the Inka” by Elizabeth B. Jenkins. For me, reading this opened another huge door. It is the true story of Elizabeths awakening through her experiences in Peru culminating in an initiation into Andean mysticism. This ancient wisdom uses simple tools to energetically connect with the living energy of nature. They believe that everything on the planet is made up of living energy and that human beings are just another aspect of this energy.
Since reading Elizabeth’s books, I have taken two courses with her on the magical island of Hawaii, including one lead by her teachers Juan and Ivan Nunez Del Prado. We invited her to Canada to teach in Aug. 2009. Then I experienced my own initiation with a Hatun Karpay in the Andes of Peru with Elizabeth. Let me tell you, this has been one heck of an unexpected journey.
The overwhelming desire to share this joy inspired me to help create The Heart Speaks with Elinor and Suze and there has been no looking back. I have been absorbed into a wonderous new world in which you are asked to lead from your heart and I am able to feel the strong energetic connection to all things. This is a time of true awareness for me and I just can’t wait for the rest of this journey.

The world of “living energy” is not new to me as I was blessed with a mother who was a gifted psychic. It was her death in 2007 that propelled me to search deeper and that is when I found the teachings of the Inka which has led my life in a totally new direction. To me, these teachings are the closest to coming from a place of truth.
Since 2008 I have studied the Inka philosophy with Elizabeth Jenkins, Juan Nunez del Prado and his son Ivan, Don Humberto and Dona Bernadina and became a 4th level Paqo in the Inka system in 2009.
Through The Heart Speaks, I feel my purpose is to help empower other people and bring them the messengers that will help them transform their lives.

In the mid 80’s, the life I thought I was supposed to be living fell apart. A health scare and the break up of my 15 year marriage contributed to a deep seated ennui that left me scared and lost. Little did I know it at the time, this was a gift from Spirit. To paraphrase Ken Wilber, “a deep dissatisfaction with life is direct evidence that a new kind of intelligence is longing to be born”.
Over the years I found comfort, connection and inspiration sitting in ceremony in Medicine Wheels, taking workshops with Marion Woodman and Robert Bly, participating in Dream Circles and learning to be a hands on healer after 4 years of studying Energy Therapy based on the work of Barbara Brennan.
When Elinor and Leslie introduced me to Andean Mysticism in February 2009, it felt like I had come full circle. This indigenous earth-honouring tradition was founded on the principle that everything in this world is made of living energy. What caused the biggest shift for me was their belief that there’s no such thing as good or bad energy, instead it’s viewed as refined or heavy. Judgement gives way to curiosity and the honing of one’s perceptions as you interact with these energies. Everything I had learned and studied over the past 25 years was embodied in these teachings, yet my consciousness was taken to another level through the teachings of this heart and nature based cosmology.

Mindfulness Meditation Teacher and Energy Healer
My spiritual awakening deepened in 2004 when I began practicing and studying Energy Healing and Mindfulness Meditation. My meditation journey took me to Burma and India in 2006/2007 to provide a fuller understanding of various spiritual truths. After my return in 2008 I began teaching Mindfulness Meditation to beginners at the Trillium Healing Arts Centre, in Owen Sound, Ontario. I extended my practice by teaching individuals or groups who are unable to attend scheduled sessions at the Centre.
Mindfulness Meditation allows individual to be present in the moment and provides an opportunity to bring balance and focus to one’s life.
I have studied and practiced Therapeutic Touch and I’m a trained Reiki Master Practitioner and teacher, registered with the CRA. I enjoy helping others heal. It gives me a better understanding how energy works in and around the body, and how our thoughts can move or congeal energy. Energy healing provides balance to clients who are interested in healing on a physical, emotional and spiritual level.
My most recent trip was to Peru in 2009 where I expanded my knowledge of the Inka’s ancient traditions and wisdom. I trained with Elizabeth Jenkins and my fellow initiates to learn how we are all connected to the sacred energies of the four elements - earth, wind, sun and water. My experience confirmed my belief that everything is sacred and everything we do should be done out of love, honor and respect for all living beings.

Laura Heming’s medicine name is Turns Around Woman. She sets the tone for her life’s journey by looking at every obstacle as part of her spiritual adventure. In both her personal life and work, she has sought to understand the mystery and magic of how to engage the Living Energies of the Earth for healing and to gain direct experience of spirit. She apprenticed to the Twisted Hair Metis Medicine Society in 1996; was adopted into the Cherokee Nation in 1998; became a Fourth Level Paqo in the Peruvian Inca system in 2008. To this end she completed a multitude of personal and community ceremonies in Canada; Sun Danced twice in Arizona, completed the Hatun Karpay initiation in the Andean mountains of Peru and connected to the Star Nation People in Hawaii.

Today… I am very passionate about creating opportunities for awareness, healing and transformation in my own life, in the lives of my family, friends and clients.
My personal journey began in England in 1990 where I left behind a relationship and graphic design career. To regain balance and harmony in my life I started Hatha Yoga, meditation and spiritual healing. I took up a new career in physiotherapy and received my honors degree in 1996.
I moved to Canada in 2000, married, started a family and practiced physiotherapy. I continued my passions in energetic healing and kundalini yoga practice. I received Therapeutic Touch level 1,Reiki levels 1 and 2.
My love for kundalini yoga grew and I then enrolled in a teacher training program in Toronto and received my level 1 Teacher Training in Kundalini Yoga in 2007.
I love the way my different areas of practice integrate together to offer individuals a multi-layered, metaphysical perspective to health and well being.
I have been teaching a variety of classes.These range from teaching children, babes n moms, partnership yoga, pre-natal, beginners and Chronic lower back pain clients with Kundalini yoga.

Janet Schnurr started a new business “Soul Searching Tree” summer of 2009, and she offers Event Organizing, and Personal Counseling using her own personal experiences, Indian Head Massages, Reiki and Ionic Foot Detox Cleansing.
She has also learned Energy Healing – Matrix Renaissance under Patricia Langer, a form of hands on healing, clearing of energy blockages in your body to allow the energy to flow smoothly. She does not charge for the healings, this is all out of love for a healthier you.
Janet studied the Inka Teaching and Healings under Elizabeth Jenkins with the rest of her fellow Paqo’s and will be continuing the teaching/healings for the rest of her life.
